This piece grew out of reflection on my experience of healing from trauma. The journey is arduous, circuitous, and finding the words needed to once again join past experience to the everyday world is difficult. But it's a journey worth taking. You can never exactly know what the journey will look like; it takes place in the haze of memory and the equally murky projection of a new world into the future. But gradually you find your way. The greens of the piece represent the newness of the journey as well as new, organic growth full of promise. The winding river with floating letters represents the wading into the subconscious in order to recover an integrated life and the necessary time it takes to do so.
